Imagine giving birth to a child and winning the lottery on the same day. When a woman gives birth to a child, that day becomes extra special and will always remain engraved in her memory.
But a woman in the U.S. also won a massive lottery on the same day. It's not hard to imagine how happy she must be. Here's what happened.?
According to a press release from the?North Carolina Lottery, a woman named Brenda Gomez Hernandez, a 28-year-old housekeeper from Concord, delivered a baby girl on November 9.?
She had bought a Powerball ticket from the QuikTrip store on Warren C Coleman Boulevard in Concord, but she ended up going into labour on the same day of the drawing, as per North Carolina Education Lottery officials.?
In good news, hours after giving birth to her daughter, her third child, Hernandez found out that she had also won $100,000 in that day's Powerball drawing. Certainly a day she would never forget.?
She credited her big win to her two sons, and there is a reason behind it. The woman used to pick the numbers based on their birth dates. Luckily, those numbers came up in the drawing, making her win $50,000. But she won 100,000 dollars, as the prize doubled when the 2X Power Play multiplier hit.?
"I feel like she brought me my luck," Hernandez was quoted in the release. She also said, "I'm so thankful.?When I found out I cried,?I'm just so excited and happy."?The lucky woman picked up her prize on Wednesday, which came out to $65,015 after taxes, says the release.
She told the North Carolina Lottery that a ¡°large amount¡± of her prize would go towards paying for her house.?
