An image of a split AC being shared between two rooms at a hotel in Mumbai has left the internet in splits. Anurag Minus Verma, a Twitter user, shared an incident from 2011 when he stayed in a hotel in Mumbai, hoping he would get an air-conditioned room.?While he got a room with a split AC, little did he know the split AC would literally be split into two rooms.?The photo shows a single AC unit installed in such a way that it serves two rooms.??
A hole was created in the wall separating the two hotel rooms so the air conditioner could cool both rooms simultaneously.?
In the caption, he said that while one-half of the AC was in his room, the other half was in the next room wherein two uncles played the iconic song Ganpat from the movie Shootout at Lokhandwala, till 4 AM.? ?
"Booked this room in Mumbai in 2011, where the manager promised the split AC room. It was literally a split AC room which was split into two rooms. One half in ours and rest in another where 2 uncles were playing ay Ganpat chal daaru la song in full volume till 4 in the morning," he wrote while sharing the picture.?
Verma revealed that the hotel management came up with the not-so-ingenious idea to save on the expense of installing air conditioning units in two different rooms.?
In a separate tweet, Verma also stated that no room had the remote, and changing the temperature of the air conditioner or switching it off was not possible. "Remote tha hi nahi. Temperature was set to 24 degrees by management to save any bloody fights," he said.? ?
The tweet has racked up nearly 7,000 likes and a ton of amused comments.
"Am wondering how it can be serviced, the grill part can't be lifted to remove the filters," a user commented.??
"I can see he provided you split bulb as well without any extra charge," another user wrote.?
