Every time you sneeze or cough, people around you are going to panic because that is one of the symptoms of the coronavirus, and it has instilled a lot of fear in people. Also, anyone who is suspected of having contracted this virus, unintentionally ends up getting a lot of attention, and that's making people super nervous. So much so, a couple of people ran for the hills.
In a bizarre incident, a Moga native who has recently returned from Dubai ran away from a hospital where was supposed to get tested for the virus. The doctors suspected him of being infected since he showed some of the symptoms and wanted to perform some tests on him.
According to a?New Indian Express?report, the suspected patient complained of some cough and cold after returning from Dubai and visited the hospital as a precautionary measure. However, he was referred to the isolation ward of the hospital which scared him. What added to his nervousness was when?the media - who wants to have as much information about people who are infected with the virus, as possible -?started clicking his pictures.
A health officer said, "He refused to get himself admitted to the isolation ward as some media persons tried to click his photos and?returned home. Then a team of doctors went to his house along with the local police and convinced his family. He then gave the rest of the samples and also agreed to come back and get admitted in the ward for?observation. His initial reports show he has pneumonia symptoms. We will be sending his blood samples for coronavirus testing to Pune."
However, his escape did not last for too long as he returned to the hospital after a few hours to get resume his tests for the virus.? ?
The man from Punjab is not the only one who fled from a hospital premises after panicking. Another man from Gujarat escaped from the hospital without providing his blood samples to the authorities because he was reportedly scared of contracting the infection, if he already didn't have it.?
According to NDTV, the 41-year-old man had returned from China on January 19 and after he ran away from the medical facility, the authorities informed the police and district administration about the same. The man's family members claimed that he would return to the hospital to give his blood samples for the tests.?
In-charge medical superintendent of the hospital, Priti Kapadia said, "A man was admitted in the isolation ward of the hospital for suspected nCoV on Tuesday afternoon. However, before we could collect his blood samples, he slipped away. We have informed the district collector and the police."
There have been 28 confirmed cases of the virus in the country with hundreds of suspected cases taking place every minute.
