In yet another example of all things wrong with corporate India, a man claims his "toxic," "Indian" boss kept calling him on his day off and screamed his head off once he called back. After he tried to make calls to clients believing he was guilty, he realised there was "zero work." This isn't anything new, but one of a million cases in India where bosses treat employees as nothing more than "resources" that are meant to be used 27/4.
Why Indian Bosses Suck? TL;DR - My boss is furious why I (8-5 weekdays manager) didn't pick up his call at 10pm on a Friday evening with no prior notice

"TL;DR - My boss is furious why I (8-5 weekdays manager) didn't pick up his call at 10pm on a Friday evening with no prior notice?" he asked.?
Somehow it's not hard to see that the concept of work-life culture is close to nonexistent in India. Add to that the problem of employers who don't care if it's your day off and you'll magically reappear in office in case there's work. If not that, there's the problem of zero overtime pay. With the covid lockdown and the rise of work from home most realised they were slowly getting to enjoy the work-life balance in the truest sense. It's no surprise some companies didn't prefer it that way and coerced workers back to the office.
Another disgruntled soul, OP took to the 'India' sub Reddit and wrote:?"Some context: I work a 8 to 5 job as a business manager - sometimes late evening calls with counterparty 12 hour time zone away. Had a 6.30pm call with my boss, and he didn't mention that we need to cover calls that night. Proceeds to call all evening amd berates me at 7am on Saturday (when I don't work) for not picking the call previous evening. We follow up, ABSOLUTELY ZERO work takes place except that my weekend is ruined."
What is immediately apparent is how he was first berated for not answering calls on the weekend, and then he was dragged into the office only to realise there was no work. If that isn't a huge red flag right there, what is?
