Paris played host to the Olympics 2024, and lovers made sure not to let the chance of being in the 'City of Love' go to waste. They truly rose to the occasion¡ªwell, more accurately, they bent down on one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?"
There were not just one, two, or three proposals, but a staggering eight!
However, the most recent one that has captured everyone's attention is when a French athlete proposed to her boyfriend.
Check out the video here:
On Tuesday, August 6, French runner Alice Finot made headlines by breaking the European women's 3000m steeplechase record.?
In the final, four women finished under nine minutes for the first time ever. Finot, with a time of 8:58.67, took fourth place and just missed getting the medal.?
The medalists were from Bahrain, Uganda, and Kenya.
But Finot stole the spotlight, because as soon as she finished, she dashed to the stands to share the joy with her longtime boyfriend, Spanish triathlete Bruno Martšªnez Bargiela and popped the question!
Instead of a traditional ring, Alice pulled out an Olympic pin. She got down on one knee, not to place it on his finger but to pin it to his shirt. They celebrated with big smiles and a sweet kiss.
Alice explained, "I don't like doing things like everyone else. Since he hadn't proposed yet, I thought maybe it was up to me. So, I gave him a pin I ran with that says, 'Love is in Paris.'"
She had set a condition for herself: if she ran under nine minutes, she would propose, tying it to their nine years together and her lucky number.
Another memorable proposal at the Paris Olympics 2024 had happened on August 2. After winning gold in mixed doubles badminton, Liu Yuchen proposed to Huang Yaqiong with a bouquet of flowers and a heartfelt kneel in front of the cheering crowd at La Chapelle Arena.
They don't lie when they say love is in the air!
