The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) offers a number of courses that people can take. Now, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under ISRO is inviting applications for a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Geospatial Applications for Disaster Risk Management.
The course aimed to strengthen efforts of disaster management by professionals, is organised by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Vienna, and Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (CSSTEAP).?
The official notification states that the course is free, flexible and available to everyone who wishes to enhance their capabilities related to the ¡®use of geospatial and Earth observation technologies in disaster risk management¡¯.
The course is open to professionals, government officials, educators, university students and other stakeholders working in the field of disaster management.
One of the two tracks or modules of the course will cover the overview of disaster risk management (DRM), relevance of geospatial technologies, and earth observation and disaster management.?

Those who complete Track 1 can move on to Track 2; if someone wishes to drop out after Track 1 they will be provided with certificate for completing the first module.?
Track 2 will cover ¡®Earth observation and geospatial intelligence for disaster management, EO system and Hydrometeorological disasters, EO system and geological disasters, and EO system and environmental disasters¡¯.
Certificate for the entire open online course will be received after completion of Track 2. Each Track is 12 hours each.?
