Ever since its launch earlier this month, the iPhone 14 has gained quite a bit of traction, thanks largely to some of its novel features. In addition to 'Dynamic Launch', Apple's new flagship phone has caught the eye for its 'Crash Detection' feature.? ?
This feature?immediately connects you to emergency services once it detects that you have been in a severe car crash.?To detect crashes, Apple is using a slew of sensors in the?iPhone 14 Pro, including a new dual-core accelerometer and gyroscope.??
Many people might be wondering if the 'Crash Detection' is reliable, so a YouTuber has put the feature to the test, quite literally. The YouTuber?who runs a channel named "TechRax"?shared a video?showing how he tested the?new emergency feature and proved that it actually works.
In the video, a person is seen strapping a brand new iPhone 14 Pro to the headrest of the passenger seat of a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan. The YouTuber crashes the remotely-controlled car into a pile of old and wrecked vehicles.
In the video, the crash detection feature did not work immediately. However, moments later, it?worked as advertised, detecting the collision and starting a 10-second timer to call emergency services.
Once the crash detection kicked in, the phone displayed a message that read,?"It looks like you've been in a crash,"?before the timer started.??
To make sure the test was conclusive, TechRax simulated a second car crash, which deployed the airbags this time and crumpled the front of the car.??
The video also shows the YouTuber rushing to the car after every crash to disable the call.?
Well, there you go ¡ª crash detection works. But don't get any ideas from the video. Do not try this at home or anywhere else.?
The video has garnered more than 2 lakh views and hundreds of comments.?
"I was expecting the crash detection to be triggered only if it was an intense crash with the car being completely totalled. But even with your first test when the crash was light at low speed, the phone picked it up. Honestly impressive," a user commented.?
"This is absolutely amazing. It's definitely not common to see someone have a car drive into another car just to test a phone mechanic," another user said.?
"Thank you for risking it for the test. Good to know that this feature really does work," a third user said,?
