Hairdresser Jawed Habib has been in the news ever since a video of him spitting on a woman's hair while giving a seminar had gone viral on the internet. The popular hairdresser faced some serious criticism for his behaviour from netizens.?
Now, a day after the video surfaced on social media, the Muzzafarnagar police has booked the hairdresser for assault and criminal force and disturbing peace. According to the Times Of India, the Epidemics Act has also been slapped against him.?
According to the station house officer of the Mansoorpur police station, Sunil Kumar Saini, the victim had filed a complaint against the hairdresser. The case has been filed against the hairdresser under IPC Sections 355 (assault or criminal force dishonouring a person), 504 (whoever intentionally hurts and provocations a person) and Epidemic Act.
Further investigation is on and action will be taken accordingly.?
The woman in the famous video had?released a statement alleging misbehaviour on Jawed Habib¡¯s part. After this, the National Commission of Women also took cognisance of the incident and asked the authorities to take relevant action in the matter.
After the incident, the celebrity hairstylist had apologised on social media?for his actions. He said,? ¡°Some words spoken during the event have seemed to hurt people. These sessions are attended by professionals and they are usually long. Sometimes, you have to maintain humour. Despite that, I will say it from my heart that if you were hurt, please forgive me.¡±
On Thursday, protests were also held against the hairdresser. The Hindu Jagran Manch, a right-wing outfit, burnt effigies of the hairstylist and demanded his arrest.
