Going beyond the call of duty to help others can get you a lot of praise from others. More recently, a video of a traffic policeman sweeping a road in Odisha has gone viral.
Needless to say, everyone is praising the cop for doing much more than his job needs him to do.
The video shows the police official sweeping a road near Sikarpur square in Cuttack so that motorists don't skid over the rubble. The cop in the video was identified as Lalit Mohan Rout of Town Traffic Police Station, Cuttack.
The 22-second clip was shared on Twitter with the caption, 'Good deed: A traffic cop clears the rubble on the road to avert skidding of vehicles in #Cuttack #Odisha'.

The viral video has been viewed more than 22,000 times on the micro-blogging website. While some netizens lauded Rout for his efforts, others called out on the civic authorities for not doing their job.
One user said, 'This is called "Policing with human touch". There is nothing wrong by a traffic police man cleaning the road. This is done to avoid skidding on the road and saving lives.'
Another user commented, 'It's good but this is not the duty of cops, cmc or high authorities should work for betterment of roads..'
After the video went viral, Rout was felicitated by the Police Commissioner Dr?Sudhanshu Sarangi for his efforts.
