Ride-sharing application Uber is currently offering free one-hour cruises along the Seine, mirroring the upcoming river-way opening ceremony.Private boat rides have been available in cooperation with Paris-based boat rental company Click & Boat beginning Friday, July 12th.?
The promotion ran only until Friday, July 19. It will then resume after the Olympic Opening Ceremony (on July 26) and run until August 3.
Each boat may carry up to 12 persons and starts at the Pont Marie in the 4th arrondissement. The one-hour journey offers views of some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including the Pont des Invalides bridge, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, and the Eiffel Tower.?
The boats are entirely electric and have their own skipper to 'steer' them, so passengers do not require any navigational abilities to ride.

And, yeah, the journeys are free. Uber is launching the experiment under the name 'Uber Cruises' to improve brand recognition, tie in with the Olympic Games, and promote its mission for more environmentally friendly journeys. Users can reserve a spot through the Uber app on a first-come, first-served basis.?
The Olympics Opening Ceremony will take place on July 26 and will feature the athletes travelling down the Seine, in what organizers hope would be a refreshing and bold departure from the conventional in-stadium parade seen at most past Olympic games.
The Uber Cruises project comes after Uber launched an 'Uber Boat' service on the Thames in London, in collaboration with boat operator Thames Clippers, offering daily trips from Barking Riverside Pier in the east to Putney Pier in the west.?
