A giant Mona Lisa replica was created with 24,000 rice crackers on Sunday,?and it's now being hailed as?the world's largest mosaic made of rice crackers. The painstaking recreation of the iconic painting took the effort of??200 residents of the city north of Tokyo who took part in the creation at a gymnasium.?
The painting was made to promote a particular type of rice cracker, a local speciality called ¡®Soka Senbei¡¯,?Japan Times said in a report. It took?rice crackers of seven different colours to come up with the right gradient.
The final pieces were placed on Sunday by the mayor and others, finishing off a 13-metre-long, 9-metre-wide mosaic reproduction of the painting by Leonardo da Vinci, reports the #mce_temp_url#Bangkok post.?
Officials from Guinness World Records certified it as 'the world¡¯s largest mosaic made of the treat'. The replica was immediately dismantled and the senbei were given away as free gifts.
