With the U.S. presidential election just two days away on November 5th, the race is heating up, and the exchanges are getting sharper. During a campaign stop in Detroit, Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's running mate, referred to Elon Musk as a "gay guy," and Musk was quick to respond.
Kamala Harris's running mate, Tim Walz, made a remark about the billionaires¡¯ influence in elections, referencing Elon Musk with the phrase, "That guy, that gay guy."
He added, "Michigan knows that word¡ Look, that dude got a tax cut."
Walz's use of "gay" in a dismissive way and as an insult does not bode well for the Democratic party.
Elon Musk responded on X, stating, "I have no problem being called gay tbh [to be honest.]"
The Tesla CEO, who has openly supported Republican candidate Donald Trump and even conducted monetary giveaways on X, seemed unfazed by the comment.
Well it isn't just Walz, even Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance seems to be making controversial statements.
Appearing on the Joe Rogan podcast recently, he had suggested that upper-middle to lower-middle-class white progressives, especially those aiming for Ivy League schools like Harvard or Yale for their children, might feel pressured to embrace progressive views. Vance claimed this pressure could even extend to encouraging their children to identify as LGBTQ+.
One commenter noted, "Waltz just used 'gay' as a slur and not in its correct context... where's the outrage from liberals? I thought people couldn't use the word "gay" as a joke anymore."
Another wrote, "Weird how they use a term that's not an insult as an insult.'
Someone else added, "His intent was to disparage you using that word."
Yet another said, "But it's telling that he means it as an insult. We all know he's not complimenting you. The pro-LGBTQ+++++ caucus uses 'gay guy' as a slight? I thought they loved the gays and all the letters?"
