The executive director of the World Health Organisation(WHO), Michael J Ryan has reposed faith in the Indian health-care system forthe fight against the global pandemic that¡¯s ravaging countries across theworld.
In a recent press conference, Michael Ryan said that Indiahas a tremendous capacity to deal with the coronavirus outbreak situation as it has the?experience of eradicating two pandemics, namely small-pox and polio.
He said that the future of this pandemic will largely depend on what denselypopulated countries like India and China do to tackle this unprecedented healthcrisis.
¡°India is a hugely populous country. The future of this pandemicto a great extent will be determined to what happens to densely populatedcountries. It¡¯s really important that India continues to take aggressive actionat the public health level, and at the level of society to control, suppressthis disease and save lives,¡± Ryan said.
"There is a need in the number of labs where a surge isseen. India is a very populous country and the future of this virus will beconsidered in a very highly and densely populated country. India led the worldin eradicating two pandemics, small-pox and polio so India has a tremendouscapacity," J Ryan said during a daily press brief on COVID-19 pandemic.
