A Sikh mom has taken over the internet with her ingenious solution to her kids¡¯ problems. Canadian mother Tina Singh struggled to give her kids a suitable helmet for when they rode their bikes around the neighbourhood so she came up with Sikh helmets.??
In a video promotion for her company, Tina introduces her product and shares how it came to be. The Sikh mom reveals that before, she had to DIY helmets for her children, who wore turbans on their heads. The standard bike helmets made it really difficult for any Sikh child to wear them without pain or discomfort.
Tina explained that she used to empty the foam inside the helmets to make room for her children's hair, but the main issue was the safety of her children, who were wearing helmets that were slightly damaged.??
In order to tackle this problem, Tina designed the Sikh helmet which leaves extra space for hair for those who wear turbans. The Toronto local told CBC Toronto, ¡°My kids keep their hair, so anytime I went to go put a bike helmet when they were going out to ride ... nothing fit them properly.¡±
She continued to share that she ¡°was frustrated that there wasn't a safe option in sports helmets for my kids.¡± Tina revealed to the outlet that it took her over 2 years to perfect her design, but now it's finally in production and ready to reach thousands of Sikh children. She says that she understands that some Sikh people decide not to wear anything over their turbans, ¡°So I think this is definitely one more option that Sikh families can consider and definitely long overdue.¡±
