Swift went on a record-breaking spree during her Eras Tour shows in Scotland in June. Her three-date stint at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh beat Scottish Swifties'?Cruel Summer blues, with the first night alone attracting almost 73,000 fans, breaking Harry Style's record. The organisers had to increase the capacity of the stadium by 8.73% to accommodate more Swifties.
Notably, the former One Direction star set the record for the highest-attended stadium concert in Scottish history in May 2023, with over 65,000 fans attending his Love On Tour show at Murrayfield.
?The achievement was posted by Murrafield's official X account, with a link to an article titled American superstar Taylor Swift broke Scottish concert attendance records at Scottish Gas Murrayfield this weekend.
"With a crowd of almost 73,000, night one overtook Harry Styles’ concert attendance from last summer (65,000) to be the highest-attended stadium concert in Scottish history," the venue wrote.
The Midnights crooner expressed her thrill to be performing in Scotland again after nearly a decade, telling the Edinburgh crowd: "I was wondering, what's it going to be like, how are they going to be as a crowd?" Her love was met with energetic cheers and applause from the packed house.
Keeping up with post-concert ritual, the singer also posted a poignant Instagram note for Scottish Swifites on Instagram. "Edinburgh!!! You truly blew me away this weekend. Thank you for breaking the all-time attendance record for a stadium show in Scotland 3 times in a row ? and for all the ways you made us feel right at home. Love you, all 220,000 of you!!!" she wrote.
Harry and Taylor, affectionately called Haylor by their fans, dated for a brief period from 2012 to 2013. Known for igniting a tabloid frenzy, their relationship is now known as the 'child of divorce'.
Although their relationship was short-lived, it's been one of the highly talked about events of pop culture, inspiring several songs on both artists' albums. Taylor Swift's 1989 album, in particular, contains two songs about Harry, including Out of the Woods and Style.
