Amid the swirling rumours and rising speculations about the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, a.k.a. GTA 6, fans are now concerned over the potential price point for Rockstar Games' biggest title, particularly after the recent price for Nintendo Switch 2 games.
Nintendo has finally unveiled the Switch 2 on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, but according to some fans, the $80 cost for some of the console's new games sets a threat for Rockstar's upcoming title, GTA 6.
However, the fans of GTA 6 are still in the dark about the launch of the game or the trailer 2 release of the game, as Rockstar Games has maintained its silence over the matter. But the game is expected to take the gaming industry by storm.
Well, in a recent interview of Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick with Bloomberg, Zelnick briefly informed the fans of why Rockstar Games is delaying the launch of GTA 6. He revealed that the company wants to keep the anticipation and hype going on as long as possible, as this works out as a good marketing strategy for them.
This revelation has already left fans heartbroken; meanwhile, the recent launch of Nintendo Switch 2, which even includes a new game from Elden Ring developer FromSoftware, has left fans shocked by the increased price of its games.
As per the Gamerant report, for years, the AAA titles have been priced at $70, but with Nintendo becoming the first to break away from that tradition, titles such as the Mario Kart World will cost around $80 for the online edition and $90 for the physical edition.
The prices mentioned above have left the GTA fans shocked, and they speculate an increased price hike for Grand Theft Auto 6. Some even believe that Nintendo has opened the door for Take-Two Interactive to price Grand Theft Auto 6 at $100.
One reacted on X (formerly called Twitter) saying, "Rocksta,r after watching the Nintendo Switch 2 games price their games at $80 so they can charge $100 for GTA 6."
"I love how no one is talking about the possibility of Grand Theft Auto 6 being priced at $80, which Nintendo has knowledge of, raising the price of Switch 2 games to match the coming industry change. ?"
"Switch 2 at $450 and games at $80 have me thinking Take-Two will be bold enough to drop GTA 6 at $100."
