It is 2021, but patriarchy still tries to conduct how a woman should behave, dress and what she should do. Tired of the oppression, a 37-year-old woman has reportedly filed a lawsuit against her husband, claiming, among other things, that she was barred from wearing jeans. The complaint also claimed that her husband, who indulges in moral policing, made offensive remarks about women who wanted to wear jeans.
Sahiba (name changed) is a local resident of Fatehwadi in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She used to work at a call centre before. She married Zahid in 2017 (name changed). This is her second and Zahid's third marriage. Zahid agreed to marry her on two conditions before the wedding; first, she would not leave her job and second, they would not stay with her parents.
The newlywed couple moved to an apartment purchased by her father in Fatehwadi. A month after the wedding, however, problems started to pop up in the marital life of the couple.?
