Whodoesn¡¯t love Pizza? Just the thought of piping hot cheesy crust with some ofyour favourite toppings can make anyone drool in seconds. Not to mention, the sound of thedoorbell with the delivery man handingyou the box of goodness - everyone will agree that it¡¯s the best feeling ever.
Butwhat if all that¡¯s been described above is actually a living nightmare forsomeone?! That¡¯s right, for this man from Antwerp, Belgium, just the words 'pizza delivery', send chills down his spine.?
It all started with an accidental box of pizza being delivered at his doorstep nine years ago.
The only issue is that it hasn¡¯t stopped since! Jean Van Landeghem, from Antwerp, has been receiving the orders at his home for nine years and he has neverplaced any of those orders.
Whenthe doorbell rang for the first time nine years ago, Jean thought that it was amix-up. "Suddenly, a pizza delivery man handed me a whole load of pizzas ¨Cbut I hadn¡¯t ordered anything," Jean recalled.
Heassumed it was a simple delivery mix-up at first, he told Het Laatste Nieuws.?But from that day onwards, the torrent of takeaways hasn¡¯t stopped. He saysthat the deliveries come from a wide variety of nearby fast food outlets.
OnJanuary 2019, 10 pizza delivery men showed up at his house. One of them wascarrying 14 pizzas.
Hislife now runs around these unwanted deliveries. "I cannot sleep anymore. Istart shaking every time I hear a scooter on the street. I live in fear thatsomeone will come to drop off hot pizzas yet again," Jean said.
Hesays that he always turns the delivery drivers away, so he isn¡¯t being chargedfor the nuisance deliveries.
But,he says, apart from the constant irritation, he knows that money is being wasted on all these unwanted pizzas and kebabs.
¡°Itcosts them money and they have to throw the food away. On the day that 10deliveries showed up, I did the math: it cost €450,¡± Jean said.
Jeanis not alone in this pizza menace, One of his friends who lives in Flanderstown about 15 miles away has also been receiving non-stop pizzas.
"Sometimeswe both get them on the same day. When that happens, we warn each other toexpect a delivery," he said. He thinks that the prankster knows them both.
Hardto believe that something as heavenly as Pizza can also turn into someone else's nightmare!?
