Imagine going through sudden pain in the stomach and giving birth to a surprise baby. Well, here's the catch, you don't know you're pregnant in the first place.?
This unusual incident happened to a university student named Jess Davis. This girl was left stunned when she went to the toilet due to extreme stomach pain but ended up giving birth to a baby.?
Davis who turned 20 a day after giving birth to the child had assumed that?her abdominal pains were due to her period. She had no obvious symptoms of pregnancy, to begin with. The most shocking fact is that she didn't even have a baby bump.?
According to The Independent, she also has had irregular periods, so she didn't quite notice that she hasn't had them for quite a while.?
But the second-year student at the University of Southampton was stunned when she gave birth to a 5lb 5oz baby boy while sitting in the toilet. She said, ¡°My periods have always been irregular, so I didn't really notice. I sometimes felt nauseous, but I had started taking a new prescription, so I just put it down to my new medication. When he was born, it was the biggest shock of my life - I thought I was dreaming at first." ?
"It suddenly hit me that I really need to grow up. It took a little while to get over the initial shock and adjust and bond with him, but now I'm over the moon. He is the most chilled baby ever. He's known as the quiet baby on the ward," she said.
The new mother is now getting used to motherhood after welcoming her son into the world on June 11. He weighed around 3kg. She said, "When he was born it was the biggest shock of my life - I thought I was dreaming at first".?
"I didn't realise what had happened until I heard him cry," Ms Davis said. She added, "It suddenly hit me that I really need to grow up. It took a little while to get over the initial shock and adjust and bond with him, but now I'm over the moon."
?"He is the most chilled baby ever. He's known as the quiet baby on the ward," she added.?
She woke up in severe pain in June 2022 and it was the start of her period. She was barely able to walk and couldn't even lie down on her bed. "I was supposed to be having a house party that night for my birthday the next day, so I had a shower and a bath to try and make myself feel better, but the pain just got worse and worse," she stated.?
She had the sudden urge of going to the toilet and pushing but didn't know she was giving birth. She did feel the tearing then. Since she was home alone, she called her best friend who called the ambulance.?
