Surveillance footage capturing two young women inspecting name labels and repeatedly ringing doorbells in a Mumbai apartment complex has gained widespread attention on social media.?
Shresht Poddar, a resident of Maharashtra's capital, shared the CCTV recordings along with an account of the incident that transpired on January 28.
The videos depict the women documenting their actions. However, the situation took a concerning turn as the women, seemingly under the influence of alcohol, according to Shresht, not only examined nameplates but also tried to secure doors from the exterior.
In his statement, Shresht mentioned that the G+2 building they reside in primarily houses middle-aged and senior citizens.?
He recounted an unsettling experience, stating, "Last night at 2:30 am, multiple doorbells startled my mother and me. Unfortunately, the CCTV was offline due to a memory issue, and we couldn't spot anyone from the windows."?
Some of the footage was eventually recovered after Shresht addressed and resolved the CCTV malfunction the following morning.
"I repaired the CCTV in the morning and was surprised to find footage of two seemingly intoxicated girls who were aware of the surveillance. Nevertheless, they went upstairs, inspected nameplates, attempted to secure doors from the outside, and persistently rang the doorbells," Shresht explained.
Furthermore, Shresht noted that the residents were taken aback by the women's behaviour, considering they appeared to be conscious of the security cameras but boldly persisted in their activities.
His apprehension was justified, as Shresht emphasized, "In the last few years, our building and the Juhu Scheme have experienced several attempted robberies, electrical fires, and even murders in the vicinity. The residents have had to evacuate into the compound in the middle of the night on multiple occasions."
"In usual circumstances, I might have overlooked this. However, this girl is confidently recording herself, fully aware of the surveillance cameras. I'm quite certain they believed their actions were impressive," Shresht conveyed in his tweet.
He also shared two additional videos of the CCTV footage, illustrating the two women acknowledging the presence of the surveillance cameras.
