New research conducted by the US-based National Bureau of Economic Research has revealed an intriguing revelation about the relationship between parental attractiveness and their children's future incomes.?
The study, titled 'The Economic Impact of Heritable Physical Traits: Hot Parents, Rich Kid?' investigates how physical attractiveness within families affects financial success across generations.?
Economist Daniel Hamermesh, a researcher at the University of Texas in Austin and one of the report's authors, discussed the findings in an interview with Euro News.
According to Hamermesh, the study implies that attractiveness can be inherited, resulting in greater incomes for offspring. He stated, "Better-looking people are more likely to be financially and professionally successful throughout their lives," emphasizing the importance of beauty in shaping socioeconomic outcomes.
The study, which examined datasets containing families from the United States, China, and billionaire cohorts worldwide, relied on subjective ratings of attractiveness rather than objective measurements such as face symmetry.
The study found a substantial relationship between parental attractiveness and children's earnings, with each standard deviation over average attractiveness in parents resulting in a more than $2,300 (Rs 1,90,966) rise in annual earnings for their children.?
Over the last decade, Hamermesh's vast research has continually emphasized the advantages that attractive persons have in the job market, such as greater employment rates and incomes.?
