A woman in China has decided to return $26,500 (Rs 21.7 lakh) in donations she received from over 4,000 people after her husband emerged from a three-year coma.?
The woman, identified as Ding by the outlet, has cared for him throughout this time. Under her care, Mr. Jiang regained the ability to walk, speak, and perform daily tasks such as brushing his teeth.?
A heartwarming video of Mr. Jiang sitting up in bed and eating food from Ding's hands has touched the hearts of Chinese social media users.?
In the clip, Ding supports Mr. Jiang's chin to help straighten his body. Despite doctors' predictions of a low chance of recovery, Ding has remained by her husband's side every day since 2020.
As the expenses for Mr. Jiang's care, including hospital bills and medicine, depleted Ding's savings, the 32-year-old launched a fundraising campaign.?
To her surprise, she received over $26,000 from 4,055 donors. Ding made sure to record the details of each donation and expressed her gratitude for the kind messages from strangers.
"Your strong heart will bring a big smile. Don't give up," read one of the messages as reported by SCMP. "I hope he can wake up soon," read another comment.
In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, Ding has decided to repay all those who generously supported her financially.
