A pre-wedding photoshoot in Uttarakhand turned into a harrowing experience for a couple from Delhi when they found themselves on the brink of being swept away by the powerful currents of the Ganga. Despite entering the river at Rishikesh when the water level was relatively low, Manas Kheda, 27, and Anjali Aneja, 25, faced a perilous situation.
The pair was caught in the middle of the river when the water level rose, ruining their plans to take special pre-wedding photos by the gorgeous Ganga.?
"The man was unconscious when he was pulled out of the water. The pair received first assistance and then were sent to a nearby hospital for further care, according to State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) commander Manikant Mishra, who spoke with the Times of India.
According to Mishra, the Beasi police check station in Rishikesh called the SDRF on Thursday night to report that a couple from Delhi was drowning in the river.?
The pair had nearly been washed away when a rescue squad arrived at the scene, which was close to Singtoli.They were retrieved by the rescue squad. Mishra stated that since they "were in no position to speak much," it was not possible to quickly determine their Delhi address.
