A groom all decked up in his wedding attire was set to start a new chapter in his life and was waiting for his wife-to-be to take the?saat pheras.
But the wait got a bit longer as the groom, Anil Gujarati, and his family members ended up in a police station for flouting COVID-19 norms.?
Upon receiving information about a huge crowd of revellers, a team of Visavadar police raided the venue and arrested Anil and seven others.?
"We got information that a huge crowd had gathered for the marriage. There were nearly 200 people whereas the government has permitted a maximum of 50 people in marriage functions," said Pradeepsinh Jadeja, deputy superintendent police, Junagadh.?

According to a report in Times of India, along with Anil, police arrested his brother, bride's father, priest solemnizing the wedding, videographer, photographer and cook.?
All were taken to the police station and an offence under relevant sections of IPC and Epidemic Diseases Act was lodged against them.?
"There were released on bail after four hours and allowed to complete the marriage ceremony with strict adherence to Covid rules," Jadeja said.?

It was reported that before police's intervention, a huge crowd had gathered to attend the marriage function and Covid rules were disregarded as hardly anyone was wearing a mask while social distancing was not being followed either.?
The post-marriage feast was also called off, police said.?
