Previously considered to be a merit, hustle culture is no longer viewed through the same prism. Many organisations are urging employees to prioritise their mental health in light of the sharp increase in the number of people experiencing the stress of such a work culture.?
Following suit, a man took a day off from work to binge-watch his favourite web series all day. The mail went viral on social media. Here's what he wrote in the mail:
A journalist by the name of Abhishek recently posted an odd email on Twitter. He requested a one-day leave from work by mail so that he could binge-watch his favourite web show called "Pitchers".?
"Normalise leave," the tweet said. It is not necessary that you take leave only when you are sick or for some work that cannot be done without you."??
In the mail, that he sent to his boss, he wrote, "This is a formal application for a day leave on December 23rd to sit at home and watch Pitchers- Season 2. The mail also had a reason as to why he needs a day off to watch the show.?
The mail clearly stated that binge watching the show late at night would "disrupt" his sleep cycle, but he also could not wait "until the weekend to watch it."?
"Will continue research and monitoring work as usual beginning December 24th," he wrote at the end of the email.
This is what he wrote: "The reason of this much-needed leave is that I can't binge watch one of my favorite web series on weekdays all night long disrupting my sleep cycle and can't wait until the weekend to watch it. Will continue research and monitoring work as usual from 24th December."
The tweet, which featured a screenshot of the mail, went viral. Currently, the tweet has 281.5K views, 213 retweets, 48 quote tweets, and 3,217 likes. Many people were shocked that he actually sent that mail; others found it relatable.
A man wrote, "Itna courage kaha se aata hai."
A lady wrote, "This is so cool. Would love to see the response."?
A man suggested, "Why mention the reason? Leave is your right. The manager shouldn't even ask the reason behind the leave."
Another man wrote, "Fate of this leave application is not known to me.. but your approach is absolutely right. Everyone has a right to enjoy in his or her personal space even if such space falls during working days."
