The last thing anyone would expect a teacher to do, is to steal things from their own student's house - but for this tuition teacher from Nagpur, consequences didn't seem to matter.?
Local police, on Saturday, arrested a 36-year-old private tuition teacher and her friend for allegedly stealing gold ornaments from the house of her student.?
Police have recovered the stolen jewellery and a mobile phone, collectively worth Rs 1.50 lakh from their possession.
According to reports, a?complaint filed with Hudkeshwar police, the alleged incident occurred on February 4 in Old Subhedar layout area.?"The teacher stole the ornaments from the bedroom of her student by diverting the attention of her mother, while her friend kept watch," a police official said.?
The duo has been booked under section 380 (theft in a dwelling house, etc) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In a similar incident that took place in 2017, a former teacher at the private school in northeast DelhiĄ¯s Karawal Nagar was caught for allegedly stealing books from his own students,
According to the Indian Express, the teacher was accused of stealing Class XI and XII books from at least five students in 2017, in addition to money and other items.
In stark contrast to the above two incidents, there are teachers who go out of their way to give their students a chance at a better life.
Take staff the of a government junior college in Mahbubnagar, Telengana - they pooled in money from their own pockets to feed students under the mid-day-meal scheme every month.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation provides meals at Rs 25 per plate to about 750 students of the college. Part of the charge - Rs 10 - is taken care of by the college staff while the remaining Rs 15 is paid by Mahbubnagar municipality.?
