Over the weekend, vibrant displays of the northern lights lit up the skies across the Northern Hemisphere, captivating spectators in the United States, Canada, Europe, China, and beyond, and this was all thanks to an 'extreme' geomagnetic storm that will reportedly intensify over the next few days. Like so many times before, and with so many predictions, The Simpsons' has its own cult following with fans pointing out similarities between the fictional series and real life. While not a prediction, this meme was a major throwback to the all the time fans across the internet were shocked by the show's earlier prediction.
This meme comes from a scene in a Season 7 episode titled "22Short Films About Springfield." In a funny interaction between Superintendent Chalmers and Principal Skinner, Skinner tries to blame the northern lights for a cooking accident. Chalmers replies: "Aurora Borealis! At this time of year! At this time of day! In this part of the country! Localized entirely within your kitchen!" And, so, a meme was born, and it fits right in with the countless moments the show has inspired.
"Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen!?"

The internet soaked in the moment and there were varying comments like "I kept thinking of this scene last night while observing the aurora borealis outdoors," "always instantly pops into my head whenever I hear anything about the northern lights. I was wondering how many other people must be thinking of this scene last night with how widespread it was apparently visible," and "On May 10th a significant portion of humanity shared a unique and humbling experience and there was one common theme uniting us all as we stared at the sky: Superintendent Chalmers. Steamed Hams belongs to the ages now."
