A little?toddler?was immediately rushed to the hospital after a nursery worker accidentally squirted glue into his eyes while she was doing her nails.??
One-year-old Jack Culverhouse?was taken to hospital after his face swelled and his eyelashes were glued together at First Steps Day Nursery, Skipton, North Yorkshire. The nursery worker had accidentally squirted the little boy?in the eyes as she tried to fix her false nails while holding him on September 24.
The doctors at the hospital removed the glue, and his eyesight was said to not have been affected.
The Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills-a non-ministerial department in the UK known as Ofsted-has launched a probe over the incident on September 23 at First Steps Day Nursery, Skipton, North Yorks. After the probe, the woman involved has been fired by the nursery.??
Other than that, Jack's 18-year-old mother, Aimee, is now planning to sue the nursery. This student from Skipton told The Sun:?¡°I got a phone call saying Jack had glue in his eye.?I¡¯m angry and upset. I put all my trust in them and then this happens.?His sight won¡¯t be affected but I think he¡¯s traumatised. He used to sleep through the night and now he¡¯s scared."
After this incident, the nursery spokesperson also had something to say. He said that the staff at the nursery immediately acted on it when the incident happened. The staff gave first aid to the kid and they phoned the paramedics, who told them to take the kid immediately to the hospital. He even showed his sincere apology and mentioned how the nursery takes sincere care of children.
He added,?"As such we implemented our safeguarding protocols, informing both the local authority and Ofsted of this incident. The member of staff involved was immediately suspended from work and following our investigation was ultimately dismissed."
The spokesperson also mentioned that Ofsted attended and inspected the nursery on Monday 10th October and had no concerns with the operation of the nursery or the actions we have taken. They also said that they maintained contact with the family of the child throughout the situation and updated each and every situation to help with the investigations conducted by Ofsted.
They also mentioned that this is the first time an incident like this has occurred in the 25 years of their nursery's existence.?
