The Internet loves nothing more than a mind-bending optical illusion. Remember the?curved line?picture? The case of three men standing in line? Or a true cyan dress??
Today, we have another illusion that has created quite a stir on social media. An?optical illusion showing a stack of cubes is here to blow your mind away.?
In a video shared on?YouTube, a cube art is placed on a flat surface - but can you work it out?
Thankfully, Michael Cheshire, who built the art,?explained all about the illusion, which is a two-dimensional work made from wood veneers on a solid background.
In the description, he said: ¡°The impression of depth is caused by the choice of three colours of wood arranged in a hexagon to look like a 3D cube.?With many hexagons arranged to overlap and of differing sizes the 3D effect becomes magnified. Adding the larger outer hexagons makes another illusory cube which encloses and balances the whole design."
¡°The gaps between also help to give the structure a 3D effect overall. Even when shown that it is flat, we are compelled to see it as 3D," it added.?
The perplexing illusion was shared as part of the best illusion of the year contest which celebrates the most mind-blowing images from around the world.??
Recently, another illusion, a sculpture made from two sticks went viral.?This?optical illusion?creates a series of triangles, squares and lines. What is more intriguing is the fact that all of these shapes are created with just two objects.
Yves Lappert, an artist known for creating these ingenious illusions, uses just two sticks balanced against a wall to create the effect.? ??
Lappert makes use of lighting and shadow techniques for his art. He uses spotlights on his sticks, making them project several shapes on the wall behind.?He then photographs the shapes, allowing viewers to see several different figures instead of just two.??
Lappert is able to create amazing and detailed photographs with just one or two objects, essentially using what he calls?light work.
Most of his sculptures are created with everyday objects including wooden sticks, foam, metal bars, bike parts and spotlights.
