One would think that as technology is advancing, human intelligence might be evolving too. It anyway does not take an advanced human intelligence to realize?the dire situation our planet is in, because of global warming. A major cause for the same is industrialization large scale deforestation, which in turn, has lead to more devastating?landslides and droughts?across the world.
So, most humans are becoming more sensitive towards the environment, realizing?the need to plant more trees so that we can provide slightly better living conditions to the next generation.?
Now, Kochi is in Kerala and what is Kerala known for in our country apart from being the land of spices? THE MOST LITERATE STATE. So, when people of one of its cities want trees chopped off so that they don¡¯t have to spend time cleaning bird poop from their cars everyday, it is concerning.

Some commuters have apparently complained that they waste 20-30 minutes every day, cleaning their cars and motorcycles that are dirtied by bird droppings. The ¡®issue¡¯ they say, has been put before the officials multiple times, but has not been met with a desired response.?
In Kochi, however commuters at the Aluva railway station are asking the railway authorities to CUT DOWN trees. Now, it's not because they need more parking space or have to build houses there. There problem is that the trees are home to birds which ruin people¡¯s vehicles with their droppings. So, they are translating the ¡®na baje ka baans na bajegi bansuri¡¯ to ¡®na rahega ped na rahenge pakshi.¡¯

Railway authorities reportedly admit this problem and they have been trying to get clearances to get the trees chopped, but they have been difficult to obtain. One of the railway officials reportedly said that they are not too keen on "disturbing the ecosystem". But he also said that he does not see any other alternative.?
He reportedly said that the trees in the parking lot ¡®prevent¡¯ it from being utilized?to the optimum level. The trees have reduced a 3,000 square feet area of land to a just 1,500 square feet of parking lot.?
Okay, let us understand this. First of all, if trees were there before the parking lot was built then it is not the trees that are ¡®obstructing¡¯ the parking lot. And if trees were planted AFTER the parking lot was constructed, well, it still does not make sense to chop of dozens of trees when the entire world is banding together to plant more.
I am utterly surprised that the commuters and authorities could not think of any other way of dealing with this issue, other than cutting down trees. Why not buy car and motorcycle covers??
