The news of a sequence of crashes involving many vehicles that resulted in a pile-up around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27 is making headlines.?
The chaotic situation occurred on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida as well as the Agra Mathura Firozabad national highway, underscoring the difficulties created by severe fog in the early hours. Surprisingly, not everyone was fascinated with the vehicular mayhem amid the chaos.
An unexpected detour drew the attention of the locals assembled at the crash site. One of the trucks involved in the multi-vehicle incident was discovered to be hauling live poultry, namely broiler birds raised for meat production.
Taking advantage of this unexpected windfall, the villagers quickly switched their attention away from the disaster and toward a more unusual pursuit - stealing hens.
When the authorities moved the damaged vehicle aside, they discovered a cargo of live chickens worth up to Rs. 1.50 lakh. The story immediately circulated among spectators, resulting in an unplanned chicken-looting rampage.?
Some people showed a good sense of business by arriving with sacks to maximize their loot. These opportunistic natives seemed to have intricate arrangements for several visits, whether on foot or by bike.
Videos circulating on the internet show individuals leaping atop the vehicle to take advantage of this unexpected "opportunity." During the commotion of the accident, it became clear that the desired plunder for the villagers was the live chickens.
Surprisingly, reports indicate that, despite the driver's pleadings, the mob emptied the car of chickens in a matter of minutes.
Meanwhile, the pileup on the national highway caused damage to at least a dozen vehicles. Tragically, one fatality was reported, while numerous others incurred injuries in the collisions. The injured people were quickly transferred to hospitals, and a crane was called in to remove the wrecked automobiles and clear the road.
One bus passenger reportedly died on the spot, while around 24 people with critical injuries were treated at the Community Health Centre. Six people in serious condition were then transferred to Lucknow's Trauma Center.?
