The Australian Federal Police have released a picture that shows the moment a drug dealer realised a package of drugs worth an estimated $10million was missing from his hiding spot.??
This drug dealer named Christian Tachev was sentenced to 11 years in prison on Wednesday for his role as a bag man in a 'sophisticated' drug syndicate that was operating around Western Australia.?
The man, who claims to be a personal trainer and vape seller is responsible for moving around duffel bags full of meth and cash for biker gangs. Tachev, recently, ended up on the wrong side of a police sting with investigators watching on as he tried to dig up the package.?
The man has been under the police's radar for a while when he drove into suburban scrubland on a number of missions to bury and dig up a total of 15kg of ice. He was also captured by detectives loading the boot of a car with $500,000 in cash.
The man had buried?a blue duffel bag containing 10kg of the dangerous drug at Edgewater park in Perth's north last year. A hole was dug by a senior Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang member who was later arrested.?
After this, the police conducted?a search at another area in the southeast of the city where Tachev had visited as well.?
This is when the officers uncovered a black bag buried in a shallow hole at Maniana Park in Queens Park filled with another 5kg of meth. This is when the AFP obtained a 'surveillance device warrant'.
On March 19, 2021, Tachev arrived on the scene and put on gloves before he dug for 25 minutes in search of a package. He then started panicking.?
The drug squad had already seized the package of ice and a confused Tachev was captured with his hands on his hips and a grimace on his face. He then left there empty-handed.?
However, it was unclear whether the drug carrier was supposed to pick up the bag full of drugs or was supposed to pick up money from the same spot.?
After the man was caught, the court notified that despite his role as a courier, ¡°there was a high level of sophistication¡± to the man¡¯s conduct given the manner drugs were hidden away in bushland and the locations were only accessible through GPS coordinates.
AFP Senior Constable Bennett Pluss later said that the operation prevented meth from reaching the community and being sold to 1,50,00 people in ¡®street deals¡¯.
