Pictures of the children tied to furniture in Andhra Pradesh¡¯s Anantpur district went viral on social media, after which, outraged activists demanded a criminal case against the authorities.?Activist Achyuta Rao called for departmental action that must be initiated against the headmistress. "Criminal case should also be booked," he said.
The two boys - one from the third grade and another from the fifth grade - are seen with their hands and legs tied to a bench at their school in Kadiri town, in the viral picture.?
The headmistress of the school denied all the charges and said, ¡°I did not tie them up. The child's mother tied him up¡±. However, she did not explain why the incident took place inside the school premises.?

"In a lighter vein, I am quite glad if a child in a government school has been able to write a love letter, if not a leave letter, given the usual levels of learning and writing,'' said activist Achyutha Rao.
According to the local media, the children said that this type of punishment is not unusual for them. A probe has been ordered in the case.?
Many teachers just don¡¯t care about the consequences of punishments like this one. Being subjected to such treatment can be really scarring for the children and might possibly take a toll on their mental health and personality. There's a not-so-thin line between discipline and abuse, and teachers of all people, should know that.
