One of the things we Indians do really well is jugaad. The field and scope can vary but that in no way affects our spirit of jugaad, something we use as and when we see fit. Take this man for instance, who thought it a good idea to catch some sleep in the middle of a railway track. Imagine what must've been going through his head to think this a well-thought-out plan, and without a second thought about the fact that he was putting his life in danger. Just Indians being Indians or jugaad gone too far? You decide.?'Ghar Ke Lakesh,' a popular page on X, recently shared a video of a man sleeping in the middle of an active railway track. He was using the rail as a pillow and even had a large umbrella for some shade. Luckily, the sharp-eyed loco pilot caught the scene ahead of time and brought the train to a halt. He then got down, woke up the sleepy stranger and moved him out of the way after which the train eventually moved forward. The incident reportedly comes from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.?
It's hard to find any humour in the situation considering the dangerous situation the man put himself in. Another reason why this isn't funny is the recent jump in train accidents, which most conveniently blamed on the government adding it wasn't working hard enough. But aren't deterrents like this man to blame as well??User @Imsamarpit wondered if this was perhaps part of a larger conspiracy: "For the past few days the number of train accidents had increased and it seemed that the government was not working properly but slowly it became clear that all this was happening as part of a conspiracy because so many train accidents have never happened before."
In the video, seemingly shot by the loco pilot himself, a man is lounging in the middle of a railway track in Prayagraj, UP, while also holding onto a large umbrella for some shade. It's laughable that he had the foresight to carry an umbrella along for shade, but couldn't take a second to reconsider his plan to sleep in the path of running trains.?
The loco pilot, who to his credit was sharp-eyed and saw the man well before the train approached him, had to eventually walk up to the man and ask him to move. It was then that the train could finally make its way forward.?
The video was shared today, on August 25 less than an hour ago and it already has 13.7k views. The incident left the internet divided; here's what people had to say:
