If you have ever been to an art auction, you would know that it is pretty much like what you have seen in the movies. Except, when you bid for something you have to pay actual money for it.?
An American woman probably did not see that coming and got into trouble for that. This 28-year-old woman?bought a $4,000 Salvador Dali art print at an auction... accidentally.?
Danielle Allen had never been to an auction and when she attended one, she saw art pieces being sold for as much as $75,000 which was way beyond her price range. But after watching so many costly art pieces being sold to people, Danielle felt left out and she got FOMO (fear of missing out). So, when the next piece was announced, she planned to bid on it - just for fun.?
The minimum bid for the piece was estimated to be around $15,000, so Danielle said that she didn't see much harm in participating so she made a $4,000 bid. "I wanted to raise my hand and make a bid... and then someone else outbids me, that's what I wanted to happen in my head, but that didn't happen," Allen said.
She thought someone will easily outbid her but then it did not happen, so she was left with the painting.?"I couldn't even see the piece from where I was sitting," she mentioned.?
Allen, who can not afford this exquisite piece said that she is looking to sell it now. She is encouraging all art enthusiasts to get in touch with her to buy this painting by Salvador Dali.?"So, if you're interested in a great story and a great package, the bidding starts at $20,000... Come on rich people, don't let me down," she said.?
According to ArtNet, Allen's interest in the auction arose after the sale of an untitled Klimt sketch that¡¯s ¡°a bit of a precursor to The Kiss,¡± a work she also purchased.
Salvador Dali is a?Spanish Surrealist painter and printmaker. He is known for subconscious imagery. While studying in Madrid and Barcelona, Dali learnt a lot of different artistic styles.?He also began what he called ¡°paranoid critical¡±. A process in which he put himself into hallucinogenic states in order to see images from his subconscious mind.
