The company said in a regulatory filing that Rinshul Chandra, the Chief Operating Officer of Zomato's food delivery platform, has resigned.
On Saturday, Zomato stated in a filing that Chandra had put down his papers, effective April 5. Chandra has plans to pursue new opportunities and passions, the company stated further.
The ex-Chief Operating Officer of Zomato, in his resignation letter that was addressed to the Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal, mentioned that after careful consideration, he has decided to pursue new opportunities and passions that align with his evolving personal and professional goals.
The letter also added, "I am writing to resign as COO ¨C Food Ordering & Delivery Business of Eternal Limited, effective April 7, 2025."
However, the brand name of the firm's food delivery business, Zomato, remains the same, along with the app; only the company has changed the name of the corporate entity to Eternal.
The previous week, the food delivery platform Zomato laid off nearly 600 customer support executives within a year of hiring, and these people were hired under its Zomato Associate Accelerator Programme (ZAAP), which was launched last year.
Not only this, but the layoffs were also happening due to higher usage of artificial intelligence (AI) in customer services.?The layoffs have impacted employees from the Gurugram to the Hyderabad offices of Zomato. According to a PTI report, the food delivery platform hired about 1,500 people under its ZAAP programme. Earlier, these employees were hired for customer support roles and were given hopes of transitioning into better positions. However, at the end of their work tenure, the company did not renew many of these contracts.
Moreover, the layoff actually happened within a time period of one month after the company launched Nugget, an AI-powered customer support platform.?
