Chinese astronomers have led an international team in revealing a groundbreaking image of the supermassive black hole at the heart of Messier 87, an elliptical galaxy. This incredible image features the black hole's accretion disk, made of rapidly rotating particles orbiting around the black hole, and a jet of subatomic particles being ejected from the disk at almost the speed of light.
