Nearly a week after BharatPe sued Ashneer Grover and his wife for damages worth about Rs 88 crores, the former Shark Tank India judge has hit back.
Despite Delhi High Court's order to restrain from making defamatory statements against the company and its executives amid the ongoing Rs 88.6 crore fraud case, former BharatPe Co-founder and Managing Director Ashneer Grover took a serious dig at the company¡¯s CEO Suhail Sameer.
In a tweet on Monday, Ashneer Grover alleged that BharatPe CEO Suhail Sameer allegedly spent money raised by him to travel to Australia for this year¡¯s T20 World Cup.
Grover then targeted Sumeet Singh, who had joined BharatPe as its general counsel (GC) last year.
He also used the #Doglapan to conclude the tweet.
In September this year, BharatPe CEO Suhail Sameer had said that Ashneer Grover's exit is "definitely not a loss (for the company)."?
"Neither did he (Ashneer) know fintech nor financial services. He was a good hustler. I am not taking away the credit from him. He was good at his work, but usko banking thore hi aati thi (he didn¡¯t know banking)," he had said.
About two weeks ago, Ashneer had targeted the firm after four of the top executives resigned.?
He had tweeted "Good people don¡¯t work for companies. They work with magical Founders to create, build and grow! There is no BharatPe without Ashneer Grover."
In a lawsuit filed against Ashneer Grover, his wife Madhuri Jain, and other family members, BharatPe is asking for more than Rs 88 crore in damages for allegedly misusing company money.
BharatPe has alleged that the Grover family created fictitious vendors from Panipat and did massive hiring while overcharging the company.??
In addition, the company has taken legal action against the Grovers by filing a criminal complaint with the Economic Offenses Wing on 17 counts, some of which include theft, forgery, and criminal breach of trust. If the Grovers are found guilty, they face a possible prison sentence of up to ten years.
In the 2,800-page civil suit BharatPe filed against the Grovers, it was said that they made up a network of fake invoices and used corporate money for personal use.
The other parties in the BharatPe lawsuit are Deepak Jagdishram Gupta, Madhuri Jain's brother-in-law, who worked as admin head and reported to Madhuri Jain. Read more here:?
The Delhi High Court had last week issued notice and summons to Ashneer and his wife, in a plea filed by the company, seeking orders to restrain them from making defamatory statements against the company.
Earlier this year in April, Grover had threatened legal action against CEO Sameer and the board for his comments on professional networking platform LinkedIn against his sister Ashima Grover, along with seeking a resignation from Chairman Rajnish Kumar, as per IANS report.
Grover had last week attacked the fintech platform's co-founder Shashvat Nakrani, saying he once asked him to bunk office for a whole year in order to complete his IIT degree while remaining on the payroll.
Ashneer also alleged that his book "Doglapan" created panic among BharatPe executives and this is the reason the fintech company had apparently filed cases against him.
