Recently, ed-tech company Unacademy made several headlines for reportedly laying off 250 employees. This further fueled up rumours of the company heading towards a potential merger with a big online platform.
However, putting a rest to all speculations, co-founder and CEO Gaurav Munjal denied this rumour on X. He went on to say that Unacademy has had a great year in terms of growth and profitability.?
¡°There is a lot being said about Unacademy currently. To set the record straight, Unacademy will have its best year in terms of growth and profitability. We also have many years of runway. We are building Unacademy for the long run. Ignore the rumours,¡± the Unacademy CEO wrote on X.
Munjal, originally from Mumbai, India, attended Jamnabai Narsee School for his early education and later pursued a computer engineering degree at NMIMS University. During his senior year of high school, he started coding and initiated his first YouTube channel. In 2010, he posted his first youtube video on graphics. Eventually, this channel focused on teaching Java programming and other technical subjects. Eventually, this platform evolved into Unacademy, gaining popularity among students nationwide.
