The Tata Group, synonymous with excellence and innovation, has left an indelible mark on India's financial landscape. Now, Tata Motors is set to commence the production of its iconic Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models in India, marking a historic milestone for Jaguar Land Rover, which the Tata Group owns.
This will be the first time in the 54-year history that these models will be manufactured outside the UK. Previously, both models were exclusively produced at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant in the UK and exported to around 121 markets worldwide, including India.?According to a Reuters report, the Tata Group company, which acquired JLR in 2008, will start production at a $1 billion plant in Tamil Nadu.?
This move marks a significant milestone as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, which were previously produced solely at the Solihull plant in the United Kingdom, will now be manufactured in India. The renowned British brand aims to enhance the pricing of these models to attract a broader customer base in India through increased localization. Local production is expected to reduce prices by 18-22%, Times of India reported.
