While many of us choose to spend our prime years cribbing about what we don¡¯t have, there are some who make the most out of what they have got and emerge victorious. One such story is that of visually impaired entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla.?
Despite being blind, Bolla got the opportunity to study at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. Defying all odds, he became the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Hyderabad-based Bollant Industries Private Limited. His extraordinary achievements not only got him several awards and recognition but also earned him a slot in the ¡®30 under 30¡¯ Forbes Asia List.?
Srikant Bholla hails from Seetharampuram, Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He was born blind into a family dependent on farming. Once he finished class 10th, he was looking forward to opting for science stream but the school did not permit him to do so. Instead of compromising, he moved court and six months later, won the legal battle which made his dream of pursuing science come true.?
He topped the 12th board exam with a jaw-dropping score of 98 per cent. Despite his exceptional academic performance, he faced rejection from coaching institutes due to his disability. His aspiration to crack the IIT-JEE and pursue engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) went unrealized. However, he found an opportunity at MIT, one of the most esteemed educational institutions in the US, where he also secured work placements.
However, his heart lay in India where he wanted to work on innovative ideas and make a career.?
In 2011, he partnered in establishing the Samanvai Center for Children with Multiple Disabilities, initiating a Braille printing press. Alongside, the center provided a range of services including education, vocational training, financial support, and rehabilitation programs to empower students towards economic self-sufficiency.
Bollant Industries specialized in areca-based products and created job opportunities for hundreds of individuals with disabilities. This great initiative found support In Ratan Tata who funded his company.

The company manufactures environmentally friendly recycled Kraft paper, utilizing municipal waste, packaged products, disposable items from natural leaves, recycled paper, and waste plastic to create usable products. In 2018, the company achieved a turnover of Rs 150 crore.
His journey embodies resilience and determination, enabling him to overcome challenges posed by his impaired vision. On May 10, the biopic "Srikanth ¨C Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne," starring Rajkummar Rao, is set to release, showcasing his inspiring story.
