Hyundai Aura Compact Sedan To Appeal To Xcent Lovers Wanting A More Premium Feel

Hyundai Xcent is set to have a successor soon. It will, however, not carry the set moniker and instead, will be called Hyundai Aura, as confirmed by the South korean auto maker recently. The car has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions and based on the sightings, here is what we can expect from the upcoming compact sedan from the house of Hyundai.

Before we start noticing the details of the car, know that Hyundai has not officially confirmed anything about the Aura. The only speck of information around the car is the meaning of its name, i.e. a ¡®vibrance of positivity¡¯.

That being said, there is an even stronger reason for the new name. Hyundai can easily monitor that the Xcent is a hit with the fleet operators. With ample sales coming in from the model, it would not want to discontinue it at any cost. It would, however, also not want its new, presumably more attractive compact sedan fall in the same category. Hence, the new ¡®Aura¡¯ moniker will help Hyundai sell both cars simultaneously, just as the company did with the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Grand i10 Nios.

What can be expected from Hyundai Aura

Judging from the sightings of the Aura, it can easily be assumed that the new compact sedan will share several body parts of the new Grand i10 Nios. These will further be complemented with design cues from Hyundai¡¯s other sedans. For instance, Hyundai¡¯s signature ¡®cascading grille¡¯ with a honeycomb mesh can be seen in the spy shots, which looks exactly like the one found on Hyundai Elantra facelift and some other sedans from the company.

Apart from such differences, Hyundai Aura will carry many similarities with the Grand i10 Nios, including the boomerang-shaped LED DRLs aside the grille as well as LED strips at the back along with LED tail-lights.

Interiors of the Aura will also take cues from the Grand i10 Nios. This includes 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and even a possible BlueLink connected car technology.

A highlight on the Aura will be its BS-VI compliant engine options. If Hyundai decides to go for the same engine as on the Grand i10 Nios, the Aura can come with Hyundai¡¯s 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine in both manual and automatic transmissions. Whether the car will have a diesel variant is yet to be seen.

Hyundai Aura Launch Date

Another interesting update might be the compliance to the pedestrian protection norms set to be in effect from October 2020. This can be judged from the fact that Hyundai might be eyeing to bring such an update to the Hyundai Xcent in its facelift version next year.

Hyundai is expected to launch the Aura in the upcoming Auto Expo in February next year. Judging from the prices of the Grand i10 and Grand i10 Nios, the Aura might come at a similar price tag as the Hyundai Xcent upon its launch.
