Don't Want To Do Cliche At A Weekend Getaway? Get Close To Nature At Rishikesh's Marine Drive

Rishikesh is at the top of the list for Delhiites nowadays who want to take up a trip but do not have more than two days, and that includes the weekend. The place is known for river rafting and the many other adventure activities that it offers. Many from parts of India visit the place throughout the year for its ambience of spirituality and tranquilly. The city in India's Uttarakhand state, situated amid the Himalayan foothills alongside the Ganges River, helps people rejuvenate their mind, soul, and body; at least, this is what the regular visitors say.

Well, as I also wanted to explore the tourist spot over the weekend but wanted to avoid the traffic the city is experiencing nowadays because of the increase in summer footfall, me and my group of friends decided to stay in the 'Marine Drive' area of the city, away from the hustle and bustle. It is essential to locate a tranquil area in Rishikesh throughout the weekend to settle the inner tumult.

During the weekend, the prominent spots in Rishikesh are nearly filled with tourists, making it difficult to achieve mental calm in those areas. This site in Rishikesh might help you relax, and we actually felt that. The area is far from the crowds, and one may enjoy the ecological, spiritual, and peaceful environment even on the weekend.

Highlights From My Stay:

Rishikesh, like nearby Haridwar, has traditionally been a gathering spot for 'Sadhus," or spiritual seekers. Locals frequently refer to the Marine Drive region as the 'Aastha Path," a strolling route built along the Ganga.

A Well-Spent Stay At Marine Drive:

As I informed in the beginning that I wanted to just relax and not explore much. We already knew the city would be busy with traffic and all roads would be jammed, so we planned our stay at Marine Drive, which offers many resort options. Ours was in 'Ganga Forest View.'

Marine Drive, the walking trail along the Ganga, allows people to stroll along the river. The walk along the trail can lead you to Triveni Ghat, where you can witness 'Ganga Aarti.' The route is around 20¨C25 feet wide. The entire walkway is roughly 5 kilometres long. Beautiful yet sturdy ramparts keep the walkers secure. The lampshades and the rampart's design go well together.

The Marine Drive Walk

On one side of the boardwalk, there is a cliff, and on the other, there is the Ganga River. There are gazebos from which you can see the Ganga. Alternatively, you may simply sit quietly and contemplate.

For those who are unable to go far, seats facing the Ganga are provided at regular intervals. Small temples are also placed at regular intervals along the path for those who believe and wish to visit. Some of them have ghat access to the Ganga. People may get up close and personal with the Ganga by visiting the little ghats that have been created at regular intervals.

We went for morning and evening walks a few times during our stay; it's unusual to discover such a peaceful place to walk, at least in Delhi. The route offers an open gym where visitors can exercise.

On The Other Side Of The River

The beautiful woodlands on the other side of the Ganga provide an ideal background for the river. We heard people say animals are seen drinking water on the other side of the Ganga.

It was our bad luck that we didn't see any elephants peeking out of the opposite side of the forest, but locals shared many incidents that they had witnessed.

There are well-decorated cafes with excellent atmospheres, just as there are magnificent resorts along the Ganga. We went to the 'Hideout Cafe,' which is on the Ganga riverfront.

The restaurant provides a relaxing eating and chill-out experience with a stunning view and a sophisticated environment. It's excellent for those who wish to enjoy coffee or a snack while taking in the scenery.
