This Dad Captured His Autistic Son's Unique Habits & It'll Give You A Glimpse Of His Magical World

There are a lot of preconceived notions about Autism. While some call it an abnormality, others are even scared to address it. It¡¯s like that pink elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about.

But do you ever wonder how different this world is for autistic people? More so, how our indifferent behaviour affects them? Recently, a viral FB status compelled me to ponder upon it and to say that I am a little shaken by how society treats autistic people, would be an understatement. I came across a lot of disturbing incidents where little kids were treated like trash.

From not allowing them to school trips because they are not ¡®normal¡¯ like the rest to a kid¡¯s slam page that says he has no friends, it broke my heart to see these specially-abled kids suffer like this. Come to think of it, who are we to treat someone like this? I know this might sound clich¨¦d but aren¡¯t all of us a creation of god?

As they say, every cloud has a silver lining, there are some people who do care. Enter photographer Thimothy Archibald. Father to an autistic child, Archibald decided to utilise his talent and capture his son Elijah¡¯s unique habits.

This is his way of dealing with his son and getting to know him better. Interestingly, what was supposed to be just a simple photoshoot turned into something magical. He didn¡¯t just learn a lot more about how his son sees the world, this exercise brought the father-son duo closer. Archibald learnt that instead of trying to control situations, he should let his son take control and lead.

Little Elijah was five at that time and he was obsessed with mechanical objects. On the down side, he was socially awkward and withdrawn.

All the pictures that Thimothy took said something about Elijah. In fact, it even projected how the little one perceived the world.

"I never wanted [Eli] to think that he was normal. I wanted him to be aware of how different he was and see that as an asset," Archibald said in an interview.
