And this time, they return not in a book, not on paper, but on screen in a brand-new animated series on Netflix titled Ast¨¦rix & Ob¨¦lix: The Big Fight, releasing globally on April 30, 2025.
A new adventure, same old Gaulish grit
In this animated series, the Romans are once again plotting to take control of the last free village in Gaul, the home of our favorite warriors, Ast¨¦rix and Ob¨¦lix. But this time, there¡¯s a twist. Their secret weapon, the all-powerful magic potion, is at risk. The druid Getafix, who brews the potion, suffers a major blow - he loses his memory.
And with that, he forgets the precious recipe that keeps the Romans at bay. Left without their usual strength boost, the villagers must figure out how to face the Roman army using their wit, unity, and good old-fashioned bravery.

The series is adapted from The Battle of the Chieftains (Le Combat des Chefs), the seventh book in the original comic series by Ren¨¦ Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. First published in 1964, the book was a fan-favorite for its humor, high-stakes plot, and the unforgettable image of Getafix bonking his head and forgetting how to make the potion.
The Netflix show is helmed by Alain Chabat, the same man who gave us the hilarious 2002 live-action film Ast¨¦rix & Ob¨¦lix: Mission Cleopatra. This time, he¡¯s back in the animated realm, co-directing the series with Fabrice Joubert. The script is co-written by Chabat, Beno?t Oullion, and Piano.
