Chhaava OTT Release Date: Vicky Kaushal¡¯s latest historical drama is winning the box office game like anything and we are in for this ride. Released theatrically on 14th February, the Hindi entertainer has grossed over Rs 670 crore worldwide. With its continued success in theatres, this Laxman Utekar directorial is also inching closer to its digital debut. As reported by TOI, Chhaava will be streaming on Netflix starting April 11. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
Chhaava¡¯s plot summary
The movie is about Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the famous Maratha king, Chhatrapati Shivaji. After his father's death, Sambhaji takes over as the leader of the Marathas. While the Mughals celebrate his father's death, Sambhaji leads the Marathas in continuing their fight against the Mughals. He defeats a fierce lion and captures a valuable Mughal treasure, but soon faces a massive attack from the Mughal army, led by Emperor Aurangzeb.
Despite facing betrayal and political trouble within his own kingdom, Sambhaji uses clever guerrilla tactics to resist the Mughal forces. However, he is eventually captured and tortured by Aurangzeb but refuses to give up. After Sambhaji is executed, his wife, Yesubai, crowns his brother Rajaram as the new leader. This keeps the Maratha resistance alive, and their struggle eventually leads to the fall of the Mughal Empire and the rise of India¡¯s self-rule, known as Swaraj.
Chhaava¡¯s cast and crew
Based on the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Diana Penty, Neil Bhoopalam, Ashutosh Rana, Varun Buddhadev, Sanchita Ugale and Divya Dutta in key roles. This AR Rahman musical is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, cinematographed by Saurabh Goswami and edited by Manish Pradhan.
