Dear Hongrang OTT Release Date: What happens when someone you thought was gone forever suddenly returns but seems like a stranger? That¡¯s the heart of Dear Hongrang, a brand-new Korean mystery romance period drama, streaming exclusively on Netflix from May 16.
The disappearance that starts it all
The story kicks off with a mysterious event: young Hongrang disappears from his home, one of the most powerful merchant families in Joseon Korea. For 12 long years, there¡¯s been no sign of him. Everyone moves on. His family fills the gap with another child, and life changes.
Then, out of nowhere, Hongrang returns. Now grown up and played by Lee Jae-wook (Alchemy of Souls), he walks back into the Sim household. But there¡¯s a twist, he remembers nothing from his past. Not his family. Not his home. Not even who he really is.
Is he really Hongrang?
This is where things get tense. Cho Bo-ah (Destined with You) plays Jae-yi, Hongrang¡¯s half-sister. She isn¡¯t buying any of it. For her, this man is not her brother. She thinks he¡¯s an imposter trying to take advantage of the family name and wealth. But Hongrang doesn¡¯t back down, he challenges her to prove it.
Their sharp interactions form the core of the story: Is he her long-lost brother, or is there something darker going on? Set in the historical Joseon era, Dear Hongrang is a layered story with romance, jealousy, and political games.
