Regarding his hosting responsibilities, as per Times Now, Conan stated that he finds it impossible to avoid combining politics and humour, especially since Donald Trump's reelection as US president. He said during a recent press conference, "I think as host I cannot ignore the moment we're in right now, but also it's threading a needle. I want to do it with humour and also make sure the night doesn't drift into only that."
Conan said that in addition to discussing current affairs, it is his duty to pay tribute to the performers and directors who were nominated. "It's a difficult line to walk, but I'm determined to do it," he stated.
He also joked, "For the first time in my career ¨C incredible lighting!"
