It was written by Kshitij Patwardhan, produced by Arjun Singgh Baran, Kartk D Nishandar (GSEAMS Production), and Afeefa Nadiadwala. It was created by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar.
Sharing the teaser, Sushmita Sen captioned it, "Gaali se Taali tak ke safar ki yeh kahaani. Presenting the story of Shreegauri Sawant's fight for India's third gender. #TaaliOnJioCinema streaming free 15 Aug."
The teaser opens with Sushmita looking in the mirror while donning a sari and straightening her large bindi. On her cabinet, there is a picture of the legendary singer Usha Uthup. The transgender community is then seen greeting Sushmita, who plays Shreegauri Sawant, and touching her feet.
Reacting to the teaser one wrote, ¡°Yes there are lot of trans actors but how many of them hold the power or have that strong fan base to pull the audience into theatre .. movies are business so makers will see profit . Secondly we as audience alwz see the cast to watch a particular movie . Even we are not aware of much trans actors. I am sure many of them can act really good but that¡¯s not enough from the producer side .. personally I really like Sushmita Sen .. so I am really looking forward to it.¡±
Another added, ¡°She never got chance to show her acting skills in 90s , was just limited to showpiece in movies. Now people can see her talent. Way to go.¡±
A third wrote, ¡°Goosebumps¡ I know Susmita sen will do it best and it will be a superb one as well ¡ I expected a trans actor to be choosen as a lead at least for this role ¡ again nothing against Susmita sen .¡±
