The Summer Hikaru Died premieres globally on July 1, 2025, on Netflix.
What¡¯s the story about?
Set in a peaceful rural town in Japan, the story follows Yoshiki, a teenage boy trying to hold on to something that might already be gone. His best friend, Hikaru, returns from a mountain trip... but something's not right. He looks like Hikaru, sounds like Hikaru, but deep inside, Yoshiki knows: this is not the same person he once knew. What follows is an emotional journey more than a horror story, one that quietly explores love, loss, identity, and how we deal with change that scares us.
